This GodlyAnswers document was written after an extensive search failed to deliver sexual guidance that was both Scriptural and practical and designed specifically for Christian engaged couples who are just weeks away from marriage. This document is different from many solid publications in that it assumes both the bride and the groom have been and remain steadfastly committed to obeying God in all areas of their life and within their upcoming marriage (meaning, in part, that both are entering marriage as sexually-inexperienced virgins).
Given the detailed content matter presented here, and to avoid undue temptation, it is our belief that both the soon-to-be bride and groom should refrain from deep and private sexual conversation until marriage. Instead, each engaged couple is encouraged to seek out an experienced married couple to privately talk with — man to man and woman to woman — about specific questions and any concerns they have related to sex.
This publication, viewable as a pdf document and available for printing and download below (under these terms), explores the sexual relationship and the act of sex within a new marriage from three perspectives: spiritual, emotional, and physical. The aim is to encourage newly-married couples to build a strong spiritual foundation up front — and, at the same time, to equip them with some accurate and helpful suggestions to help hem get their forthcoming sexual relationship off to a great start.
